You're Not Alone

Caregiving is isolating. And it comes with a particular kind of shame—because so much happens behind closed doors, and because it’s hard to talk honestly without fear of judgment.

What has surprised me most is how many people have reached out privately—by text or email—to tell me, “This is my life too.” Not everyone can say these things publicly. I understand that.

I’m honored to hold space for you. My goal is to create a place where you feel seen, where the hard truths can be named without shame, and where you feel less alone.

Personal Messages

Another Medically Complex Mom

“Your posts are so real and incredibly raw. I’m living a life with so many similarities. My house is just four walls—it isn’t my safe space. We’re at the mercy of home nursing. The first years were so isolating. People don’t have a clue of our reality—what we’re exposed to—and the horrible systems for medically complex kids. I enjoy reading your work. It reminds me I’m not alone.”

A Dad of a Medically Complex Child

“I very much admire the authenticity and courage in your writing.  Every line you wrote just hit home, one "OMG, yes!" after another.  Thank you so much.”

A professional reviewer for my book

“I read the chapters you sent me that relate to my work. It was a gut punch to see what you went through in print. I’m so impressed by your resilience. You’re telling his story—and yours—so well.”

An expert in the medical field

“I have finished the manuscript. I think your voice is really important and this story is incredibly important.”

Thank You

This is how I cope with my grief. Writing about Declan, telling his story, and helping others through these words is how I keep him alive. It’s how I make sense of what we went through. Thank you for telling me when something I share helps you feel seen or helps you become a better professional.  This is how I honor him.
